90s style inspiration

I don't know who these two girls are or why they decided to randomly pose for a photo on a railing, but I love their bangs, and their shirts, and those floral pants, and the high waisted shorts, and especially the chokers...definitely some quality style inspiration here.

Maybe you've heard of the band Chvrches. Maybe you've noticed how wonderfully adorable their lead singer, Lauren Mayberry is, and you might have even heard their song "Recover," which they released as an EP. icons, in general: joan baez

While I'm incredibly jealous of the fact that Joan Baez got to kick it in the 1960's and chill with Bob Dylan, I have to admit that she's a pretty bad ass lady. She's put out a ton of albums, was an icon for 60's era political movements and her songs broach some fairly radical subjects. This chick's got guts...and some undoubtably awesome casual outfits. With all the songs on her albums and scores of covers on youtube, I'd go a little insane trying to pick a favorite (although "Diamonds and Rust" is a strong candidate).  My indecisiveness aside, here's a sampling of her musical stylings-listen and get inspired. Meanwhile, I'm going to find something serious to protest.

So, the movie Spring Breakers seems indisputably horrible (a.k.a paltry, a.k.a cliche, a.k.a...you get the point), but I really can't find anything wrong with the Opening Ceremony collection inspired  by the tragically quintessential pre-summer film. I generally try to avoid situations that require donning powder pink ski masks, totting a butt-load of weapons, and robbing banks because, well, those sorts of situations have a tendency to...get you arrested. But I'll take a alien print, unicorn-head graphic, or 80's inspired crop top any day, literally. Any day.

Does anyone actually do the whole pinching-people-if-they-don't-wear-green thing? Thankfully, no one I know has that much holiday spirit (actually, we're kind of lazy when it comes to events in general. Sometimes I'm almost jealous of people who live in a city with enough Irish-cheer to dye an entire river the color of envy), but I understand that other people aren't so lucky.
